ABOUT
Tiki Trolley is a conceptual brand identity for a neighborhood trolley service designed to connect locals and visitors throughout Kailua, Oʻahu. Inspired by vintage Hawaiʻi and Tiki culture, the identity combines nostalgic visual cues with a contemporary illustration and icon system to create a distinct, approachable brand.
Beyond transportation, Tiki Trolley is envisioned as a community initiative that partners with a local nonprofit to promote small businesses and encourage exploration throughout Kailua.​​​​​​​

LOGO
The logo is a typemark design with the typeface Tropika Island. The typeface is modified to look like carved wood, reflecting the inspiration of carved wood signs used in the Tiki culture aesthetic.

The primary logo represents the fun, friendly, and adventurous nature of the Tiki Trolley experience, serving as the main visual mark across all print and digital applications. 

The secondary logo highlights the bold typemark and is a versatile alternative          of the primary logo and can be used in digital assets. merchandise, and small-format branding.

Tiki Trolley's colors are inspired by the vibrant hues of island life, the Tiki Trolley color palette captures the playful energy and retro charm of vintage Hawaii.​​​​​​​

ICON COLOR COORDINATION
Each of Tiki Trolley’s assets are designed to fit within the color palette. Each color group is designed to portray a particular aspect of the Kailua lifestyle. With each group of assets, it creates a unique and specific texture every color.
ILLUSTRATIVE ASSETS
Tiki Trolley’s signature illustrations capture the vibrant beauty of Hawai‘i through hand-drawn florals, leaves, and ocean waves. Designed to support both print and digital, the illustrations serve as  versatile accents that frame layouts, highlight key content, or add subtle island personality.
TYPOGRAPHY
Tiki Trolley primarily pairs Brother 1816 Printed Black and Lucky Stone to reflect the brand's playful spirit and homage to retro signage. Brother 1816 Printed Black is only used in all caps for section titles. Lucky Stone is mainly used for locations used on Tiki Trolley maps, as well as branding language.

Brother 1816 is a easily readable and versatile typeface with a multiple variants. It is primarily used for body text for both printed and digital material.​​​​​​​
ACCESIBLE TYPOGRAPHY
Source Han Sans JP is a modern, multilingual sans-serif designed for broad usability across Japanese scripts. Its clean strokes and balanced proportions make it highly legible in both print and digital environments. For Tiki Trolley, Source Han Sans JP is used for body copy, user interface text, and long-form Japanese content complements the other typefaces.

TIKI TROLLEY MAP
The Tiki Trolley Map is a detailed, easy-to-follow guide that showcases all Tiki Trolley routes, stops, and featured destinations throughout Kailua. Designed with both visitors and locals in mind, the map helps riders navigate beaches, shopping districts, dining areas, and community landmarks with ease through the color and icon coordinated key.

The blank spaces on the map provides ad space for the businesses of Kailua to partner with the Tiki Trolley to advertise their business and or offer special promotions for trolley riders. Businesses can purchase ad space through the Tiki Trolley Ad Program.

AD PROGRAM
The Tiki Trolley Ad Program features the available ad spaces Tiki Trolley offers in the map. The informational sheet shows potential partners the size and price of the ad space they would like to purchase. The ad program runs every 3 months to let other business get the chance to promote their business. All money earned from the ad program is used to help fund the Tiki Trolley, such as staffing, trolley maintenance, new routes, or more promotional items.
DONATIONS
Donations allow riders and the community to help support the operation of the Tiki Trolley. Upon donating, people will earn free perks and exclusive promotional items. The Donation Sheet shows each donation tier and what each tier offers. The remittance envelope allows people to donate in-person through cash, check or card. Donations are also able to be made on the Tiki Trolley website.
