Tokyo Midtown hosts an outdoor exhibition held in Tokyo Midtown Garden, which is viewed by over a million people. This event features a number of designed koinobori from all around the world. Koinobori are traditional Japanese carp-shaped windsocks flown outside of homes to wish children a healthy and steady growth on Children’s Day (May 5).
This koinobori focuses on the flora and fauna of the Philippines, both the iconic representation and unique biodiversity. The Philippine Eagle and the Arabian Jasmine, or Sampaguita, are national symbols of the Philippines. The Palawan Peacock Pheasant and the Waling-Waling Orchid are both rare species in the Philippines and are only found in specific regions.
